Text Box: May Cravath Wharton Nursing Home is a 62 bed, level I, intermediate care facility that provides short- and long-term care in a home-like atmosphere. Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Medicaid provider, Wharton Nursing Home has a well established reputation for high quality of care and quality of life. A staff physician makes biweekly rounds and is on call, while nurses, RNs and LPNs provide complete 24 hour care. Residents (from both Uplands and the wider community) are treated as individuals and receive personalized attention. Friends from the retirement village regularly visit the residents and assist staff in making sure that residents participate in meaningful activities, find new friendships and have opportunities to self direct their activities and daily routines. Competent staff and community volunteers today engage our residents and our new homes will amplify the outcomes of our care. The nearly universal suffering from loneliness, helplessness, and boredom found in most nursing home is a motivating factor behind our plans for new long-term care homes.
