Herschel Murner has extensive experience in IT work. After graduating from ITT Tech, he worked for many years at Cumberland Medical Center, the region’s acute care hospital, and was instrumental in setting up their network infrastructure. This moved the hospital into the digital age. He was also instrumental in introducing Meditech Electronic Health Record software.
He went on to work for VolFirst Telecommunications, where he helped set up their infrastructure. He also started his own IT business, working with doctors’ offices, vet clinics and other businesses in Cumberland and Putnam County.
As Uplands Village’s IT Director, Herschel transformed the network into a modern fiber infrastructure. He has also overseen implementation of a single software system, Answers on Demand, to connect information-sharing between departments. Assuming the additional responsibility of COO at Uplands, he is working to develop the Uplands Village Continuing Care Retirement Community brand for the next generation. He is currently working toward a secondary BS in Health Care Administration and ultimately a Master in Business Administration.
Herschel believes strongly in giving back to the community. In addition to coaching youth sports, he served as Chair of the Board at MedEd Credit Union for 12 years. After the merger with Upper Cumberland Federal Credit Union (UCFCU), he served on the interim board of the two credit unions for another year. He currently serves as the IT liaison for UCFCU.
